Journey to Da Lat: A Morning Ride from Bảo Lộc to Dalat with our Resident DB Superhero

Short day today: We left Bảo Lộc at 9:00 am, ready to tackle the day on our trusty XR150s, even if our heads were nursing hanovers and our stomachs were running on empty. Breakfast turned out to be unexpectedly challenging to find; some places had coffee but no food, while others had food but no coffee. After a bit of searching (and perhaps a bit of grumbling), we finally fueled up (thanks to Terry) just enough to keep us going on the open road.

The next leg of our journey, though, made it all worthwhile. We cruised through 80 miles of incredible scenery, weaving around coffee-covered mountains, with the cool mountain breeze and sweeping green vistas on every turn. These lush landscapes were a feast for the eyes, making the breakfast hunt feel like a small price to pay for the beauty surrounding us.  And, did I mention the bends?

Our arrival in Da Lat brought both relief as we had just missed the rain and a mission to eat something more substantial. We chose a hearty chicken dinner to ensure Terry had something solid after the ride, knowing it would set us all up well for the night's entertainment…...  And, in a classic Tim move, he added a bit of local flavour to the experience by being given a spare cock – not a usual souvenir, but one that somehow seemed fitting for the day and recipient!

A special mention must go to our very own superhero DB (Danger Blandford). True to his name, he lived up to every heroic expectation, steering us through a few close calls with the calm and skill of an experiemnced superhero that he is.  \hollywood, are you watching!   Whether it was a tricky bend, a wayward driver, or an unexpected manouvering female moped rider (with babe in arms ) type obstacle, Danger took each “near miss” as a challenge, keeping us all safe and, honestly, making the rest of us feel like extras on an adventure movie.

Now Where did I put that Cape?

With a great day of coffee plantations, scenic beauty, coffee plantations, local quirks, coffee plantations, and a dash of superhero flair, DaLat has welcomed us with everything we could have hoped for. We’re all looking forward to what tomorrow has in store – hopefully with a little more breakfast luck and less of a hangover!
