Da Lat to Tuy Hoa via Mud, Rain an more Rain
Where to start... Perhaps the night before when everybody bar Toby and David went to bed leaving the intrepid due having "one last beer". Well several hours later the boys finished their last beer.
Tim's Cock's description pretty much says it all
"So what’s not to like? Swooping, twisting, souring roads in almost perfect condition, negligible traffic, stunning views and 5 chums on motorbikes to share it with.
Best not to mention torrential rain, high winds, dense fog, lethal mud coating steep hills, a stuttering bike or 2……"
As we rolled out of Da Lat bright and early at 0800, TomTom took us via the narrowest walkways through Da Lat. Initially the paths looked too narrow and semed to go via peoples front gardens but it all worked without reroute. 1-0 to Tom\tom.
A gravel track that gradually morphed into a slick, polished mud descent.
Note, Danger Blandford remained uscathed!
After an hour on the road (and mud) we had only managed 15 miles, so we cracked on with the next 155. It was at this point that two things happened: The roads became super twisty through mountain scenery and it rained, and rained and rained!
After an unpleasant 2 hours we stopped for sustinance at a roadside cafe, unbelievabley good coffee but somewhat lacking in the noodle soup department but even super heroes have to eat.
Finally it was time for a 40km blast along the main coast road, ducking off for a 60 km coastal detour that would have been amazing pssing through fishing villages; however, the rain and wind were so bad just staying on the bikes was enough of a challange. At this point David's clutch started to slip and the USB chargers on Neil and David's bikes started playing up necissitating bike swapping to keep the nav working.
